Private Label First Aid Kit Packaging: An Artwork Approval Checklist

Private label first aid kit packaging connects a physical kit with the product information your customer sees. Before approving print artwork, check that the design belongs to the correct configuration and that every product statement matches the items being supplied. A clear approval process helps prevent an attractive package from describing the wrong kit.

This checklist covers packaging and artwork review for importers and brand owners. It is a purchasing workflow, not a substitute for checking the labeling requirements of the intended market.

Prepare one complete artwork package

Give each bag print, label, insert and retail sleeve its own file reference and revision. Supply editable artwork where requested, together with a reference PDF showing the intended appearance. Confirm the dimensions, print area and orientation with the supplier before treating a screen preview as final.

Keep the approved wording in a separate text file. This makes it easier to compare the content after design changes or translation, especially when several language versions use the same layout.

Check the design against the actual SKU

Review area Approval question
Product identity Do the kit name and SKU match the purchase order?
Contents statement Does the list match the approved configuration and counting method?
Logo and color Are placement, size and color references clearly identified?
Languages Has each language version been reviewed by the responsible buyer?
Barcode Does the printed code identify the correct SKU and scan on a physical sample?
Variable information Where will the agreed batch or date information be applied, if required?
Carton label Are the SKU, quantity and destination markings consistent with the order?

Review claims before printing

A design file may carry over wording from an earlier product. Check every performance, material and certification statement against the selected configuration. Do not copy a claim from a different kit simply because the artwork looks similar. Where product documentation is required, agree which records support the wording before approving print.

If a component or quantity changes, check both the contents card and the outside packaging. The revision should not leave two different descriptions of the same finished kit.

Inspect a physical packaging sample

Screen approval establishes layout and wording, but it does not show the complete physical result. Review text size, contrast, print position, folds and closures on the proposed material. Open the package and check whether the label remains readable and whether inserts fit without obstructing the kit.

For a soft bag, inspect how the logo appears when the bag is filled. For a rigid box, check that the label fits the available surface. Ask the supplier to identify whether the sample uses the final print method and material or is only a layout mock-up.

Record approval and control later changes

Keep the approved file name, revision, sample reference, approval date and any exceptions together. State which versions are approved for production and which are obsolete. If a change is necessary after approval, request an updated proof showing the affected area before authorizing the revised version.

For an outdoor product, combine this review with the outdoor kit sample checklist. Artwork approval and contents approval should refer to the same SKU.

Frequently asked questions

Is approving a digital proof enough?

A digital proof is useful for wording and layout. A physical sample is needed to assess the selected material, print position and packaging fit; confirm which checks apply to your project.

Can several SKUs share one package design?

They can share design elements, but the product identity and contents information must remain accurate for each version. Agree how variants will be distinguished before production.
